"When electricity reached their home, Majid fancied himself an Edison and found himself swept into a love story. But it was neither the right time nor the right place for such a love story ..." The narrator, now an eighty-year-old man, recalls his first encounter with electricity in the 1940s. Fascinated by this new phenomenon, he becomes enamored with electric power, developing an almost surreal consumerist obsession that leads to a series of increasingly complicated consequences.
