Kamalolmolk 2012

The life of the renowned Iranian painter Mohammad Ghaffari, better known as Kamalolmolk. Born in Ghole (a village in Kashan) he sets off for Tehran at the age of ten and learns the art of painting in Dar ul-Funun under the tutelage of renowned painting masters. Naser al-Din Shah Qajar comes across Mohammad Ghaffari on one of his annual visits to Dar ul-Funun and decides that he should take the painter to the painting room at Golestan Palace. At this palace, Kamalolmolk has the opportunity to master his art while at the same time witnessing atrocities and cruelties committed by the Qajar dynasty. During Mozaffar-e-Din Shah's reign, Kamalolmolk travels abroad in order to pursue his studies in art.knowing little about what lies ahead in the future. When he returns to Iran he is so sad to see the corruption of the Qajar dynasty that he decides to move to The Holy Shrines in Iraq. On the peak of Iran's Constitutional Revolution, he returns to the Qajar dynasty and begins to be politically and socially active. After Irans's Constitutional Revolution and Mozaffar-e-Din Shah's death, Kamalolmolk leaves everyhting once again. He spends the rest of his life in exile by the order of Reza Shah after the painter shows resistance to Shah's advice and commands. He dies in Nishapur in 1940 at the age of 96.
